In the recent gossip circles of the river city, it’s widely rumored that after Wei Lai was dumped by her ex-boyfriend and her dreams of marrying into a wealthy family were shattered, she is now dating a big shot from the Beijing entertainment industry.
One day, Wei Lai was unexpectedly invited to join a dinner party. She was the last to enter the private room and was surprised to find her ex-boyfriend there. Being a minor character, she wasn’t significant enough for the host to introduce everyone at the table to her.
During the meal, her ex-boyfriend raised his glass to her and said, “Congratulations, I heard you have a new love interest.” Curious onlookers asked her who the new boyfriend was, speculating if he was a big shot from Beijing. Wei Lai had no clue about any Beijing entertainment big shot and had no idea where the rumors came from. She casually mentioned the name of a big shot she had heard of but who was still unmarried: “Zhou Sujin.”
Everyone at the table reacted with surprise and looked towards the man sitting at the main seat. Wei Lai was puzzled and followed their gaze, locking eyes with the man whose expression was both cold and intriguing. Leaning back in his chair, he exuded an air of nobility and indifference, yet his presence was compelling as he calmly observed her.
The host of the dinner party snapped out of it and, seeing that Zhou Sujin did not deny it, congratulated him with a smile, “No wonder you suddenly came to Jiangcheng, turns out you came to see your girlfriend.” Zhou Sujin responded with a faint smile. He didn’t even know when he supposedly got a girlfriend. Wei Lai had initially planned to regain some face in front of her ex-boyfriend, but little did she know that she had just dug herself into a deeper hole in front of the real deal. Zhou Sujin’s first words to Wei Lai were, “Since it’s already public, come sit next to me.”
